Riverside County Library System Reopening Plan

Riverside County Library SystemThe Riverside County Library System will be opening up the County Libraries in two phases, starting with an express service on June 22nd. The express service will allow patrons to continue to reserve their books and materials online as well as by calling their respective library. They will receive a scheduled date and time to retrieve their reserved materials, similar to a retail curbside services that we have become accustomed to. Our book drops will be open as well for returns. Staff will retrieve the books and materials daily and quarantine the items for 72 hours in the community room before adding back to the collection.

The plan for the second phase is to open and allow limited access to the interiors of the libraries with modified service beginning July 6th. We have taken all health and safety precautions by adding wall mounted hand sanitizer stations, sneeze guards to all transaction counters, and floor decals to remind patrons to keep their distance while standing in line. During the modified service, we will be limiting the amount of people allowed inside of the libraries to browse the books and materials and allow patrons to use the public computers that will be limited by stations and time. We will also remove all lounge furniture to prevent patrons from staying longer than necessary. Once we find comfort in this phase, we will slowly begin to add more services and features.
